Reaching Out
WOW! I love the way that you guys have reached out . . . in comments here on the blog . . . in emails directly to me . . . and by phone, too. Our vibrant community of professional connections and resources for building and strengthening your private practice continues to grow! However, I’m feeling like I don’t get to spend as much time and support with each one of you as I would really like to.
I Need Your Help
I’ve been thinking about this a lot . . . about how to share even more information with you and what that format might look like. This morning I realized that I’m trying to figure this all out all by myself. That’s not very smart and it’s not very effective. It dawned on me that now I need your help.
A New Idea
I have this idea rumbling around in my head. It’s about a mentor / coaching / collaborative business think tank to support you on your journey as you build your private practice. I’m thinking about offering a one hour group phone call twice each month to a limited number of individuals. On the calls, we will really drill down to what is keeping your practice from taking off. Our conversations will be about your specific practice concerns. I will bring information and tips to share with you. Together we will exchange resources and and ideas to keep you motivated and engaged so that you can do the work that you were meant to do.
What Do You Think?
But like I said, to create such a personal group, I need your help. Can you give me your feedback? I’m looking for your thoughts about:
- Content. What would you want to see included or addressed here? Are there basic must-haves in order for this to be useful to you?
- Questions. What questions would you need to have answered in order to see the value in this type of group?
- Value. What would make this offer irresistable to you?
- Cost. What would you consider to be a fair fee for a group call twice monthly – one hour each?
- Bonus. What would be a bonus that I could add on for FREE?
Send your comments to me backchannel or leave them right here on the blog!
P.S.
I’m thinking of starting this group some time in January! Yes?

Tamara,
Great idea. I would like to learn where my ideal client is at. How to go about making the in-roads to where they are at. I would love to be of service to more people.
Also, on my wish list, I would like concrete direction specific to me. Hence, again, where do I find clients who are survivors of violence who are ready to move beyond surviving to thriving.
I am not sure about cost. Depends on how many people participate in the group. But twice monthly is good. Coaching for success is what I need and want.
Bonus: hmmm. Maybe, some kind of support in the off week.

Thanks, Brenda! This provides excellent direction for me as I firm up plans for our group! Stay tuned! More info coming!

Thanks so much for the mention, Will! I appreciate it!

Hi Tamara, sounds interesting. Not sure if this is a good fit for me as I’m not a licensed mental health therapist and I live in Canada. So one question is: would the information be relevant to a Canadian?
I agree with Brenda: the cost are probably dependent on the number of people who register – fewer people higher costs, more people lower costs. January is always a good time to start a new project.
I’m interested in using blogs and other e-marketing tools. Developing marketing plans is high on my ‘to do’ list. I also research and have ideas, the problem is finding the time to do it all!
I’ll watch how this shapes up and take it from there.

Hi, Dianne! Thanks for the feedback! I’m getting quite a bit of interest back channel, too. Ideally I’m thinking about 5- 9 individuals at most. I want enough to have a good exchange of ideas and not so many that we are talking over each other. Have you been involved in a tele-class before? I was very skeptical before taking a few; however, I’m now a believer in how rich they can be with the right mix of individuals and good content.
Yes, it will definitely be relevant to Canadians as well as those in the USA and Europe. I’m working on the content even as we chat and am hoping to present a draft to you in the next few weeks. Stay tuned! It would be lovely to have you join and have an opportunity to work with you!

I so much agree with Dianne in Canada…how to find and make time to do all the role and wear the different hats required for running a business.
I have tried many differnt systems and tools and still find it a challenge to put all of into a working schedule.
Sometimes, I feel like I am flying by the seat of my pants even though I have had corporate training in time management.

Good morning, Brenda! Yes, this really can be an exercise in juggling. I have found that when I am absolutely clear about my focus i.e. my priorities, I am in sync with a smooth flowing schedule. However, every time I try to multitask or get confused about where I should be spending my time, I end up “losing” time. I know, I know . . . we all get the same 24 hours in a day but when I get scattered, my time, energy, and resources seems to slip through my hands like grains of sand!
I’ll definitely make a point to address this in our group in our private practice think tank, too!

Hi Tamara, never have taken a tele-class before so this will be an interesting experience. I’ve done regular telephone conference calls of course, and I see Skype has a call conferencing feature – but I haven’t used this yet.
I will continue to watch how this develops!

Hi, Dianne! I’m so glad to hear that you may be interested! I remember the first time I took a tele-class. I was skeptical of the effectiveness but ended up eventually signing up for a rather pricey 6 month series . . . and it turned out to be one of the most valuable learning experiences I have ever had! It’s not always my preferred mode of learning but it can be a lot more personal than I originally thought. Stay tuned! Details coming first week in January!
