On October 25, 2012, Private Practice from the Inside Out began hosting an ever-so-often blog carnival. Here you can find the original call for submissions.
What’s a Blog Carnival?
A blog carnival is an online event for bloggers. One website “hosts” the event, sets up guidelines, and does the legwork to curate submissions on a designated topic. (It’s a massive undertaking!) On the designated date for the carnival, the host site (that’s me!) and all of the participants then publish the carnival by linking in a single post on their individual websites to all of the other participants’ carnival entries and also publishing their own submission. Here is an example from our first blog carnival for you to see.
How This Carnival Works
Today, we continue to tweak and fine tune our procedures for soliciting and publishing the highest quality of blog carnivals relevant to building strong and vibrant businesses in mental health. Although the majority of submissions continue to come from mental health professionals, contributions are welcome from all professionals . . . therapists, coaches, speech pathologists, physicians, dentists, and anyone else who is knowledgeable about this subject matter is welcome to contribute. It is my belief that we can all learn from and share with other service professionals to support us in building stronger business practices.
If your article is accepted for publication in the carnival, you will receive a second email no later than 48 hours after the deadline for submission. That notice will apprise you of your next steps for participating in the carnival.
How to Submit an Entry
If you are a blogger, you are invited to submit articles that address the intersection of building, growing, or sustaining a private practice and the designated theme for the current carnival. Here’s how to participate . . . .
- Read the Guest Posting Guidelines for Private Practice from the Inside Out
- Write your submission for the blog carnival in a Word document.
- Send an email to me with your entry attached.
- In that same email, also be sure to include (1) the permalink where your article on your own blog will go “live” on carnival day and (2) the link to your home page of your blog. Both of those will be published by all of the carnival bloggers.
If Your Entry is Accepted
You will be notified within 48 hours of the deadline for submissions if your entry has been accepted into the current blog carnival. Only the best of submissions will be published in the carnival. However, you are always welcome and encouraged to submit articles to future carnivals.
- If your submission is accepted into the carnival, I will be sending you artwork identifying you as a PPIO Carnival Blogger. You may use it with your carnival post. (Use of an image with your post will increase the likelihood that people will stop to visit your blog and also increase the “love” that the search engines dole out.)
- If your entry is accepted into the carnival, you will also receive access to a PPIO Carnival Blogger badge that you may choose to permanently place in the sidebar of your blog as a “thank you” from me to you for participating. I think of it as blog jewelry or bling. It recognizes you as a participant in our carnivals. You are not obligated to use it.
Your Commitment
By submitting your entry for inclusion in the PPIO Blog Carnival, you are agreeing to all of the conditions in the Guest Posting Guidelines referenced above.
You are also agreeing to publicize the carnival in the days leading up to the actual event in any of the following ways . . .
- on your blog,
- to your email list,
- via Twitter,
- via Pinterest,
- via LinkedIn,
- via Facebook, and
- via Google+ .
I will be doing the same.
Then . . . On Carnival Day
You will . . .
- Post on your own website your submission that was accepted into the PPIO Blog Carnival at 7 a.m. Mountain Time,
- Post on your own website links back to each of the other PPIO Blog Carnival bloggers’ individual posts at 7 a.m. Mountain Time,
- Include a post on your blog that links back to the current PPIO Blog Carnival,
- Continue publicizing the PPIO Blog Carnival in the ways noted above, and
- Drop in to comment on all participating carnival bloggers’ posts as well.
You are encouraged to engage as much as you are able with commenters on your own and on the other participant’s posts, too. It’s a great way to generate curious traffic back to your own website and support your colleagues, too.
Upcoming Blog Carnivals Here at Private Practice from the Inside Out
The theme for the upcoming blog carnival is Top 10′s in Private Practice (deadline for submission – Friday, November 21, 2014 at midnight)
In the mean time, I hope you will use this blog carnival to showcase your knowledge. Share really great information. Inspire someone. Don’t link litter. Be professional. Be personable. And, have fun!
