What are you grateful for?
If you are new to our online community here at Private Practice from the Inside Out, welcome! And, if you have been with us before, welcome back!
As a way of building our “gratitude muscles” and to help our colleagues build theirs, too, every Friday we will be hosting Mustard Seeds & Mega-Gifts: A Community Gratitude Journal. Here you can share the large and small gifts and opportunities that come your way while building your private practice.
Emma Simmons, MA, LPCC in Santa Fe, New Mexico wrote . . .
I just recently went to a day long training and was grateful to meet colleagues who provide services to the community that I cannot provide. I really got how we are a community and we each work in areas of our strength. I am grateful for everyone’s contributions to transforming our world.”
Geri Harames, LPC of True You Counseling, LLC wrote . . .
I am so, so very grateful for a fellow LPC, Sharon St. John Mercik and her husband Frank Mercik of StJohn Therapeutic Services in South Ogden, Utah.
Sharon was my intern supervisor and has remained a mentor and good friend of mine. I have a full time “day job” and I am building my private practice on the side. Sharon and Frank are two very gracious people that not only supervised me, they have also; let me use office space for next to nothing, built me a website and give me leads and referrals. Am I blessed, or what? I am forever grateful to them both for all of the opportunities, tips, hints, suggestions, feedback, and encouragement they have provided me. They truly believe in sharing their abundance and I am so grateful to have such people in my life.
Thank you for taking time to read my mustard seed!”
And, as for me . . .
I’m doubly grateful this week . . . . Last week I posted the announcement for our first PPIO Blog Carnival and requested your submissions and the first one arrived this week! What you don’t know is that I’ve put off hosting a blog carnival here for three years because I was afraid that no one would submit articles for it. So THANK YOU! THANK YOU for proving me wrong! (And, keep those submissions coming! The deadline is Monday, October 15, 2012.)
And, the second thing I’m grateful for is . . . my friend and colleague, Cathy Wilson, LPC who helped me put some flesh on the bones of an idea I’ve been cooking up to help you guys get better online results. Stay tuned! I’m almost ready to let you in on the surprise!”
If you would like to build your own gratitude muscles by sharing your appreciations with us, here is how our gratitude journal works . . . .
- It will post weekly on Fridays.
- Your job is not to just be a passive observer but to contribute to the post by sharing something that you are grateful for.
- Just send an email note of appreciation related to anything that supports you growing your practice and put “Mustard Seeds” in the subject line.
- I’ll post it the following Friday as part of our community gratitude journal!
- And, if you forget to send an email, you are welcome to just add your appreciations in the comments section of the weekly post!
- Afraid you’ll forget or slack off on sharing what you are grateful for? You can sign up here to receive blog updates for Private Practice from the Inside Out (that you can use as nudges and reminders to share your appreciations). They will arrive in your email inbox as little nudges along with other updates from me.
Research indicates that by consciously savoring those large and small gifts that come way, our joy and ability to recognize other opportunities are intensified.
Please share your thoughts!
