What are you grateful for?
If you are new to our online community here at Private Practice from the Inside Out, welcome! And, if you have been with us before, welcome back!
As a way of building our “gratitude muscles” and to help our colleagues build theirs, too, every Friday we will be hosting Mustard Seeds & Mega-Gifts: A Community Gratitude Journal. Here you can share the large and small gifts and opportunities that come your way while building your private practice.
Roberta Gallagher, LCSW, LMFT, BCD says . . .
I am grateful for my dear nephew Rick Kercheff who is a professional script writer and editor filmed my first video for my website.
I was nervous and he truly put me at ease. It took two hours to do a 4 minute piece which he is going to edit to two minutes. This is a great way to differentiate myself from the many other couples therapists in this metropolitan Miami area.”
Linda Lochridge Hoenigsberg says . . .
I am feeling so blessed and extremely grateful for an opportunity I have to find such a supportive online community of private practice mentors. There was a time in my life, many years ago, when I experienced panic disorder and agoraphobia. I was afraid of literally everything! This was pre-internet days and the book Future Shock by Alvin Toffler came out during the decade of my illness. My fear generalized to “all things future” and especially I feared where technology was leading us. Looking back at that time, as painful as it was, I actually find it funny. Technology keeps me connected…to family, including my children, 10 grandchildren and a great-grandchild who I can see via Skype or Facetime! It keeps me connected to useful information about health and about entrepreneurship, about being a business woman as well as a therapist. It keeps me connected to other women in my field and who share my interests who I may or may not ever meet in person but feel connected to none-the-less. I imagined none of this for myself, back when I was afraid to leave my house. Now my mind is filled with imagination of what I can do for others because of a community of people connected throughout cyberspace. I’m grateful for that.”
And, as for me . . .
I’m grateful for the fabulous new clients I’ve picked up this week in New Jersey, Nebraska, and right here in Colorado! The are committed to doing the work that they need to do to build strong and vibrant private practices!”
If you would like to build your own gratitude muscles by sharing your appreciations with us, here is how our gratitude journal works . . . .
- It will post weekly on Fridays.
- Your job is not to just be a passive observer but to contribute to the post by sharing something that you are grateful for.
- Just send an email note of appreciation related to anything that supports you growing your practice and put “Mustard Seeds” in the subject line.
- I’ll post it the following Friday as part of our community gratitude journal!
- And, if you forget to send an email, you are welcome to just add your appreciations to the comments of the weekly post!
- Afraid you’ll forget or slack off on sharing what you are grateful for? You can sign up here to receive blog updates for Private Practice from the Inside Out (that you can use as nudges and reminders to share your appreciations) in your email inbox.
Research indicates that by consciously savoring those large and small gifts that come way, our joy and ability to recognize other opportunities are intensified.
