Complete this sentence and tell me how your marketing is like a carnival.
Is it about the colors?
Is it about the sounds or smells?
Perhaps a personal experience you’ve had with a carnival?
Let me get this started by telling you that marketing MY private practice is like a carnival because . . .
- There’s a lot of variety in what I do to market my business;
- There are places that I like to return to over and over again;
- And, there are other little alleys that are not so comfortable for me and so I avoid them altogether.
Kat Mindenhall says
Ha! Marketing MY private practice is like a carnival because no matter how much you read about what the carnival is about, what type of crazy outfit to wear, how to have fun, and what to do, it doesn’t take the place of getting OUT there and doing it, discomfort and all. Then I find that I’m enjoying it in unexpected ways. And maybe spending more than I thought I would.

Oh, Kat! I LOVE that! I found that to be true for me, too! I had no idea when I (finally) started learning how to market my practice that I would actually like it! But I did just as soon as I realized that I already had most of the skills from my training in counseling – I just needed to learn how to transfer them from the clinical space to the marketing space! So glad that you are finding that to be true for you, too!
Hey, I hope you are going to be submitting something for the first PPIO Blog Carnival! It should be a great way to drive a little traffic back to your website and make some new friends, too!
Kat Mindenhall says
Will do! Just having difficulty thinking of a topic- so many angles, so many angles… should be fun though, I can’t wait to read what people write!
Tamara Suttle says
🙂 Oh, goody! Me, too!
Jeremy Schwartz, LCSW says
Marketing my private practice is like a carnival because:
–It stays open late, but I can decide what time to show up to market and when I’ve had enough for the day or need a break.
–In general I am rewarded based on what I put in, and at the same time every once in a while I get surprised or encounter pure luck.
–There’s so much I can do and never enough time to do it all, so being strategic and pacing myself is key.
Tamara Suttle says
haha! Jeremey, YES! I love that!
Thanks so much for dropping in this afternoon to share!
