As 2010 gets under way, I hope you’re planning for your professional development needs. I am excited to say that will be attending (not presenting at) the annual conference of the Association for Women in Psychology February 11-14, 2010 in Portland, Oregon. AWP is a terrific professional organization open to all mental health students and professionals.
If you are also planning to attend this conference, I hope you’ll take a moment to let me know so that we can meet face to face and possibly share a bite to eat together!

Tamara,
I took a look at the conference and it is full of a lot of activities I could benefit from right now. The self care of myself is much needed as I work with clients during my last semester at school and prepare for graduation. I think self care is an important topic worthy of being addressed in the training of new counselors.
Just reading the program activites gave me some ideas to care for myself this challenging semester.
Also, I will see you at the CCA workshop on February 26th at the UNC Lowery campus.

Brenda, welcome back! I have just returned from the AWP Conference and am realizing that you and I must think alike! I attended great workshops on self care, vicarious trauma, mindfulness, and borderline personality disorder. They were all excellent!
The next conference for the Association for Women in Psychology is scheduled for March 2011 in Philadeplphia. Maybe you will be able to join us there!
